Crushing cans

This week in science we created a vacuum by using a tripod, 355ml can and metholated spirits. We put the can on the tripod and then filled the can with 35mls of water then we put the metholated spirits underneath. Once the water inside the can was boiled we grabbed the can with tongs then we put the can upside down in a big bowl of ice and water. Instantly the can crushed together and the can split.
